In approx. 1974 Woy Woy Peninsula Netball Group was formed, bringing netball to the Peninsula and making it much more accessible to families.
The school clubs playing on the Peninsula at the time were St Johns Netball Club, Umina, Ettalong and Woy Woy South. St John’s Netball Club became what we know today as Brisbane Water Netball Club in the late 80’s and allowed for children from other areas and schools to join the club.
Around 1990 Brisbane Water Netball Club’s first President Maureen Bennet and Coach Elaine Anderson designed the first BWNC logo with and our black and gold club colours were born.
Since the very early days of our club BWNC has fostered a happy and nurturing environment for young girls and women of all ages to compete in Netball.
Our club has been very proud of all players and in particular our very own Megan Anderson.
Megan began her early Netball days with BWNC and has gone on to play for The Sydney Swifts and New Zealand in the ANZ championship. She has also played for Australia for several years and in the Commonwealth Games in 2006. Last year Megan became the Assistant coach for The Sydney Swifts.
Brisbane Water Netball Club has a very proud history and an even brighter future!
